One extra cold recent Saturday we had no plans and decided to take a short car ride to Jersey City to visit the Liberty Science Center. It was about a thirty minute drive from midtown East and very easy to find.
We had no expectations and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was a nice and different way to spend a couple of hours out of the house, but still inside away from the freezing temperatures. Basic ticket prices were $21.75 per adult and $17.75 for children ages 2-12, which is pretty in-line with most other museums, etc. The center is very large with four floors, each showcasing several different exhibits. Some exhibits were more crowded then others, so it was nice we could walk freely and explore based on what we thought would interest Dubbers, without overwhelming him.
The exhibits we found he enjoyed the most were the Skyscraper! exhibit, where you can discover what it takes to build the world’s tallest buildings; Our Hudson Home, which features many of the fish and sea life that live right outside in the Hudson River; and then of course a race track powered by the sun!
While some areas and exhibits were more crowded with the potential for sensory overload, we found all-in-all to have a nice experience at the Liberty Science Center and were glad we checked it out. See some pics below from our visit.
